Karen Bables
Welcome to my blog about living as apprentices of Jesus! I am passionate about spiritual transformation and about helping others become like Jesus for the sake of others.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Whatever job we get and whatever task we are assigned can serve as a container for grace" (Eugene Peterson in "Practical Resurrection"). I pray that the words and sentences on this blog may also serve as "containers of grace" for its readers.
I ordinarily post on Wednesdays and Saturdays and welcome your comments on any post!

Living in the Tension
STAYING OPEN: WRITING AS AN ACT OF FAITH I’m learning, in writing as in living, that sometimes we just have to live in the tension. I completed two writing assignments in the last few days and am beginning a larger … Continue reading

A Memory Blitz

Let’s Kick the Theology of Progress off the Throne
LIVING AS APPRENTICES “Τhe theology of progress forces us to act before we are ready. We speak before we know what to say. We respond before we feel the truth of what we know. In the process, we inadvertently create … Continue reading

Quote for Today (and every Day)
This quote brought me to tears this morning. The beauty of the writing enhances the beauty of the thought. “I beg you, Lord, let the glowing and honey-sweet force of your love draw my mind away from all things that … Continue reading
Sacramental Living
LIVING AS APPRENTICES Did you hear the birds this morning- really hear the call and response, the poetry of the chirping? Did you taste the salt and peppery flavor and relish the warmth of your scrambled eggs? Were you shocked … Continue reading
See You on the Race Track
Living As Apprentices I recently discovered an old photo of myself in pink workout suit, grinning widely and holding a huge “gold” medal. You see, more than two decades ago I was a race walker of sorts. A friend … Continue reading
