Karen Bables
Welcome to my blog about living as apprentices of Jesus! I am passionate about spiritual transformation and about helping others become like Jesus for the sake of others.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Whatever job we get and whatever task we are assigned can serve as a container for grace" (Eugene Peterson in "Practical Resurrection"). I pray that the words and sentences on this blog may also serve as "containers of grace" for its readers.
I ordinarily post on Wednesdays and Saturdays and welcome your comments on any post!

Solidarity – Part 2

Going Deeper with God: Ephesians 3: 14-19
Eugene Peterson’s book Eat this Book teaches us to chew on a passage of scripture, digest it, and then put it to use in practical ways. Use this pattern of Bible study to go deeper into Paul’s prayer in Ephesians … Continue reading

Life as it is Now
Yesterday I woke up at 4:30 a.m. from a very weird dream, missing my husband, who died less than a year ago, dreadfully. My habit when I had an awful dream was to spill it all out to Fred … Continue reading
Darkness Can Still Teach Us
This post was first published in September, 2017. The world is still a scary and dangerous place. But we can still learn from darkness. For me, 2017 has been a year of heaviness and darkness. I am not depressed or … Continue reading

From My Reading – June
“I wasn’t old enough (11) to realize that the knee-jerk repulsion I felt [about swimming in a pool with black people] was the inheritance passed down to me from literally hundreds of years of white people propagating and benefiting from … Continue reading
