Karen Bables
Welcome to my blog about living as apprentices of Jesus! I am passionate about spiritual transformation and about helping others become like Jesus for the sake of others.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Whatever job we get and whatever task we are assigned can serve as a container for grace" (Eugene Peterson in "Practical Resurrection"). I pray that the words and sentences on this blog may also serve as "containers of grace" for its readers.
I ordinarily post on Wednesdays and Saturdays and welcome your comments on any post!

Giving up the Need to Know

A False Litmus Test
Quotes I so appreciate Kayla McClurg’s approach to the concept of “born again” that I can’t help but quote the entire lesson as it appears in the Inward/Outward blog from The Church of the Savior. I have heard many Christians … Continue reading

My Journey The day I have dreaded for years is here. I have the sad task of weeding out my book collection. When we talk about simplicity in Apprentice classes, we suggest that when we buy a tee-shirt or a … Continue reading

On Being “Radical”
QUOTES Long ago, I was in and out of the church because I didn’t see the “radical” Jesus being preached or followed. I love this definition of radical; it fits the lifestyle of an Apprentice of Jesus, I think: “The … Continue reading
