“Now the Work of Christmas Begins”

Now the Work of Christmas Begin by Howard Thurman (1899 – 1981) invites us to create meaning in the blessings and gifts of Christmas throughout the year. Thurman was an African-American theologian, educator, and civil rights leader. For more information on Howard Thurman in this blog, click on this link

When the song of the angels is stilled,

when the star in the sky is gone,

when the kings and princes are home,

when the shepherds are back with their flock,

the work of Christmas begins:

to feed the hungry, to release the prisoner,

to rebuild nations, to bring peace among all,

To make music in the heart.

I pray that we may all take his thoughtful words to heart in 2017.
