What a noise! What a racket those birds were making! I couldn’t figure out what was going on. Then I located them. Three young birds jumping up and down (yes they were) on the railing of the deck next door – yelling and screaming. And then I saw her. The mommy bird (I’m making an assumption) was helping herself to the bowl of dog food at the back door. She swooped down, grabbed a piece, fed a yelling baby bird the morsel, and then started all over again. And all the while the babies continued to jump and scream.
At first I thought, “What a lazy mom for not finding worms!” But then I remembered the scripture: “Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” (Matthew 6:26)
I went back to what I was doing before the birds interrupted me. I quit my own jumping up and down and yelling and screaming and sat down to finish paying the bills.
Thank you, Lord, for providing for all of us.
